How to Prevent Mold from Growing in Your Office Buildings

Mold is everywhere, indoors and outdoors. Mold is in the air, on the ground, and on almost every indoor surface. Mold forms and grows with moisture, oxygen, warmth, and organic matter. Mold is so small that is not visible to the naked eye so it can be hard to find and know when it is starting to become a problem.
Too much mold in an area can not only affect the interior of building structure, it can cause health effects.
Here are a couple of ways you can prevent mold in your office buildings:
- Perform regular maintenance inspections on air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems.
- Keep humidity levels to under 70%
- Purchase a humidity sensor so that you can track the level of humidity in the air.
- Fix leaks in the building’s roofs, walls, or plumbing quickly so mold does not have the time or the moisture to develop and grow.
- Keep rain gutters clean
- If the rain gutters get full of leaves and other rubble, then the rainwater will drip down the side of the building. The water can build up and cause mold growth.
- Keep an eye on places that mold would love to grow on.
- Places with high moisture levels are where mold thrives so the bathrooms, the windows, the ceilings, and even the break rooms would be considered a problem area.
